Dear Friend,

Hello! Before I begin, I want to say that I'm not particularly gifted as far as language is concerned, but I am here to write what I feel, and hopefully that will be good enough!

I have always been curious about Pakistan . I wanted to know, how different can we be? We watch the same movies, speak similar languages, and even wear similar clothes. So then why are we supposed to be so different?

Sixty years ago, we weren't either Indians or Pakistanis. We were people of one nation. We were friends. Friends that spent time together, laughing, crying, talking. Now, for over five decades, there has been hostility created between our two countries. My dream is not to change the world, but maybe, if one child writes one letter, then a hundred children write a hundred letters, and a thousand children write a thousand letters, maybe the world will see that we all want the same thing, peace and happiness, forgiveness and friendship. A new start to an old relationship.

I would love to get to know you! Like I said, maybe you can help me with my curiosity about Pakistan . And if you ever wish to come to India , I will be glad to show you around! I look forward to hearing from you!

Let's come together, us children unite,
Let's teach the adults, how not to fight,
With hearts full of love, to join hands in peace,
The hostility of the past, we will help release,
The right kind of message on our lips,
‘A new beginning to an old relationship'

With warmest regards,

Gayatri
